Description

Mentoring is not mysterious. Jesus set a pattern for the Church that transcends culture and time. This seminar will inspire and equip those who desire to follow Jesus by multiplying His life in others.

The Making of a Mentor is an excellent resource for leaders and ministers. In each segment, Alicia Britt Chole guides participants through an inspiring and practical study of Jesus as he calls, teaches, corrects, empowers, and commissions the Twelve.

The DVDs and note set are both needed to study Making of a Mentor as an individual or group. Alicia suggests that the facilitator first watch the DVD segments before the group meeting to become familiar with the material and also to assist in the preparation of post-DVD discussion questions. The note set is designed to assist the participant in fill-in-the-blank style as they watch the DVD. After the DVD segment is completed, the group would benefit from discussion questions or a time of interactive discussion and response.

Suggested breakdowns for the DVD segments are as follows:
  • For a nine week group experience of 20-34 minute video segments: Tracks 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14, and 15.
  • For a five week group experience of 45-60 minute video segments: Tracks 1-4, 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, 14-15.
  • For a four hour seminar (not including discussion time) with 3 sessions: Tracks 1-6, 7-12, 13-15.
  • For a four hour seminar (not including discussion time) with 2 sessions: Tracks 1-7, 8-15.
In this series you will:
  • explore the concept of mentoring from a historical, cultural, and linguistic perspective
  • study the substance of Jesus’ model of mentoring
  • distinguish between healthy and unhealthy motivations and methods of mentoring
  • seek to apply Jesus’ principles to your twenty-first century life

Alicia does have one request: This was the FIRST video teaching we ever made. And…it was a really (REALLY) bad hair day. Have mercy.

    Mrs. Chole, please find attached a copy of the mentoring program that The Park Church, Women’s Ministry, E.M.B.L.E.M., (Elizabeth and Mary Building Lives through Encouragement and Mentoring), just kicked off on Saturday, March 28th.

    The ministry trainers, Anne McCollum and I facilitated with the materials from your seminar DVD and workbooks, The Making of a Mentor. It was so clear and comprehensible for the women to know themselves as disciples of Jesus making disciples for Jesus. Anne and I were in awe as we studied the material anxiously waiting to pass it on to those who would be Mentors and Mentees (M&Ms). They also were in awe as they learned how to disciple as Jesus did and the commitment they must make as they become involved in the lives of other women, knowing that “it is not about me”. They formed a desire to go forth now and make disciples so that those they mentor will have a desire to go forth and make disciples, and the numbers will continue to increase.

    The material gave us understanding of what mentoring really is, God’s way.

    The kickoff was so spirit-filled that no one wanted to leave. Of course everyone brought a snack to share so no one had to leave to go get something to eat, lol.

    I would never have imagined, six years ago that you would be with us again, although not in person, when you spoke encouraging words at our first EMBLEM Potluck celebration and now through your program “The Making of a Mentor”.

With the help of your video I have had the privilege of teaching thirty women in our church how to mentor. Next Sunday, we will be kicking off our Mentoring Program.     I am a pastor’s wife and it has been our hearts’ cry to mentor people, but we have had a hard time translating our hearts to our people. We have trained them, and then they get cold feet. Our people came home from Alicia’s seminar on mentoring blessed and inspired into action. I purchased the videos on mentoring and am planning to continue the process.
